Product Details
WÜSTHOF's precise, double-serrated edge makes a clear difference with this bread knife: in contrast with a single-serrated edge, this knife has serrations within the serrations, meaning that it remains sharp for longer, requires less pressure and is suitable for very precise, smooth cuts. Bread with a hard crust is not crushed when sliced with this double-serrated blade, while bread with a soft crust is also sliced cleanly, without any tearing of the delicate surface.

|---|---|---|
| Material | Premium forged steel engineered for lasting strength and corrosion resistance. | Often stamped or made from standard steel blends that may sacrifice durability or rust resistance. |
| Sharpness | 20% sharper than standard knives, thanks to laser-guided PEtec technology. | Factory-sharpened blades that start strong but dull faster and lack precision honing. |
| Craftsmanship | Hand-finished in Solingen, Germany with 200+ years of expertise and precision in every detail. | Mass-produced or partially outsourced craftsmanship that lacks the same heritage and consistency. |
| Corrosion Resistance | Exceptional rust resistance for a blade that stays beautiful for decades. | Prone to staining or rust if not carefully maintained—especially with frequent kitchen use. |
| Edge Retention | Stays sharper twice as long as ordinary knives, reducing the need to re-sharpen. | Edges wear faster over time, requiring more frequent sharpening and touch-ups. |
| Limited Lifetime Warranty | Limited lifetime warranty – a promise backed by generations of quality. | Lifetime coverage may exist, but with less transparency and variable service depending on the brand. |

Warranty Replacement
"I had purchased a 9" Classic Ikon Bread Knife in December of last year. I have several Wüsthoff Knives so I am well versed in their quality and in the care required of such cutlery. In March of this year (2025) the none cutting edge of the knife split while lying (not in active use. . . but resting after hand washing on a kitchen towel) on our counter . . . leaving a 3/8" splinter across 1. 5 inches of the knife. it, simply, "popped" and splintered. I reached out to Wüsthoff and they informed me of how to send the knife for a warranty claim. They emailed me a 90% replacement value coupon I feel ambiguous about that, but I DO, in general, like the quality of the knives I have purchased over the years from Wüsthoff. I am more confident than not that this knife will perform as the other knives in our possession do and have. if it has a similar issue. . I will, likely, replace it with another brand/company . . . all things ebb and flow. . ."
Q&A
- We have the Wusthoff Classic Ikon series block set. Recently we noticed there is a small crack just above the second rivet from the handle in the trim material on the bread knife. We use our knives on the daily basis. Always hand wash after each use. Would you be able to assist with this replacement? We would appreciate your assistance. Sincerely, Susan Scott
