|---|---|---|
| Material | Premium forged steel engineered for lasting strength and corrosion resistance. | Often stamped or made from standard steel blends that may sacrifice durability or rust resistance. |
| Sharpness | 20% sharper than standard knives, thanks to laser-guided PEtec technology. | Factory-sharpened blades that start strong but dull faster and lack precision honing. |
| Craftsmanship | Hand-finished in Solingen, Germany with 200+ years of expertise and precision in every detail. | Mass-produced or partially outsourced craftsmanship that lacks the same heritage and consistency. |
| Corrosion Resistance | Exceptional rust resistance for a blade that stays beautiful for decades. | Prone to staining or rust if not carefully maintained—especially with frequent kitchen use. |
| Edge Retention | Stays sharper twice as long as ordinary knives, reducing the need to re-sharpen. | Edges wear faster over time, requiring more frequent sharpening and touch-ups. |
| Limited Lifetime Warranty | Limited lifetime warranty – a promise backed by generations of quality. | Lifetime coverage may exist, but with less transparency and variable service depending on the brand. |

I honestly only purchased this
"I honestly only purchased this knife because I wanted to see what the "extra wide" actually ment; as it is also offered in the chefs blade. It is slightly heavier than my other pairing knife (which i do prefer). By 'wide,' this refers more to the depth of the blade, versus if the blade makes a 'wider' cut. I'll try to post a photo of one of my regular pairing knives next to the extra wide one to help explain! Either way, I'm pretty happy with this choice as ive always found wusthof knives to be of the best quality! Ill be purchasing the extra wife 8in chef blade next."
New to my arsenal
"My new favorite knife"
Great knife
"We have around 12 knives now from Wusthof. With the exception of 1, they are all Classic knives. This is a great versatile knife and has proven its worth in the kitchen already. It cuts well and holds nicely in the hand."
One of the best knives
"One of the best knives I own . Sharp as a razor . It makes slicing , cutting and dicing a pleasure because it requires no effort with this knife . It's light weight and when using it your hand never tires . And it goes well with all the rest of my Wusthof knives. You see I happen to think Wusthof makes the Worlds best knives . They are a class operation . I'll be ordering from them again."
Perfect size to complete set
"I bought a Wusthof block and knives with wedding money 35 years ago. They were an investment and worth every penny. When I saw this little gem I knew it’d be a great addition. The knife is as well made and balanced as the ones I’ve enjoyed for so long."
Love this knife
"I love this knife. I find it more versatile in the kitchen than the standard utility knives, and it's easily the knife I use the most aside from my standard chefs knife. The wider blade and demi bolster make it easy and super comfortable to use in a variety of contexts. I had this knife for a long time, but when a friend accidentally lost it I tried to use the other knives in my set more to avoid rebuying. I caved and just replaced it, and I'm glad I did (and regret waiting so long)."
The Paring knife is awesome.
"The Paring knife is awesome. The extra wide blade allows better control and slicing seems easier than the narrower paring knife."
Paring knife
"The knife is a gift but I gifted it because we already own it. It is superior to all other paring knives. Plus the customer service is outstanding."
Haven’t received it
"We have not received our knives yet. Any idea where they are? Tracking gives no information"
