|---|---|---|
| Material | Premium forged steel engineered for lasting strength and corrosion resistance. | Often stamped or made from standard steel blends that may sacrifice durability or rust resistance. |
| Sharpness | 20% sharper than standard knives, thanks to laser-guided PEtec technology. | Factory-sharpened blades that start strong but dull faster and lack precision honing. |
| Craftsmanship | Hand-finished in Solingen, Germany with 200+ years of expertise and precision in every detail. | Mass-produced or partially outsourced craftsmanship that lacks the same heritage and consistency. |
| Corrosion Resistance | Exceptional rust resistance for a blade that stays beautiful for decades. | Prone to staining or rust if not carefully maintained—especially with frequent kitchen use. |
| Edge Retention | Stays sharper twice as long as ordinary knives, reducing the need to re-sharpen. | Edges wear faster over time, requiring more frequent sharpening and touch-ups. |
| Limited Lifetime Warranty | Limited lifetime warranty – a promise backed by generations of quality. | Lifetime coverage may exist, but with less transparency and variable service depending on the brand. |

My wife uses it, I
"My wife uses it, I don't. I'd end up cutting myself but she had one that she missed placed at her other home so I bought her new one. I think she knew it all the time but she absolutely loves the knife"
Great knife!
"So far its a great knife and i am happy to have purchased it. It was not cheap so i am hoping its the last chefs knife i need to buy. Verry impressed with the razer sharp edge, i hope it lasts a while."
8 inch chef knife
"I am enjoying using this chef knife, in addition to its sharpness which easily lends to accuracy of cut, the handle fits well in my hand and maneuvers easily."
Classic 8" Half Bolster Chef's Knife
"I am so impressed with this company. My knife handle broke, and upon receiving my knife back, the immediately replaced it with a new one. I am excited and pleased to be able to be using this knife again."
Incredibly Sharp and Wonderfully-balanced
"Razor sharp! So sharp i sliced pad of my finger off while washing it out of the box !!! My own fault. The weight balance on this is perfect!! Even with an out of use finger 2 weeks on, it makes food prep so much easier. Looks beautiful, tho would have loved different colours. I went fir the half-bolster and I'm pleased I did. Wusthof uk have been so swift in delivery too. Highly recommend the knife and the company."
Great Knife
"Love the WÜSTHOF brand, always great quality. This knife is a great size with the quality I expected."
Not well balanced—returned
"Having made do with lower quality knives my entire life, this knife was a Christmas gift to myself. After much research, I thought I would prefer a knife with no bolster. However, when the knife arrived I knew I had made a mistake the minute I picked it up. Without the bolster, this knife is not well balanced. It is back heavy and I knew that not only would it not be comfortable to use, but I would be prone to dropping it. After a conversation with one of your lovely representatives, returned for the full bolster version and am delighted with that one."
Great build quality.
"had to return. Have large hands and handles were a bit too small"
Quality knife
"The knife was very sharp out of the box and has kept is edge very well. Great quality and very well balanced look forward to using it a very long time. Will definitely be purchasing other styles of knives in the future."
Great knife, probably best for smaller hands
"Great knife & quality. If you have smaller hands, and like a German knife (bit weighty-er than Japanese) then you would love this!! Pros 1. No Bolster I bought specifically for this reason. Easier to sharpen, I am not worried about cutting myself, I'm not opening cans with a $200 knife lol, etc. (Why are they still putting bolsters on chefs knives??) 2. Good Blade Height No problem with knuckle clearance while using a blade pinch grip, unlike Ikons. (Ikons force using a handle pinch grip, which is ergonomically goofy. Using a blade pinch grip with Ikons and your knuckles will hit the board. No bueno.) Cons 1. Handle is a bit small I have adult man hands with somewhat long fingers (wear M to L gloves). With a blade pinch grip, I would prefer handle to be wider and bigger."
